Functions of the Central Information Office of the Federation

(1) To establish and maintain transparency regarding the deployment of public telecommunications networks, the Central Information Office of the Federation establishes and operates a technical tool in the form of a data portal that provides information on
1. infrastructure, in accordance with section 79,
2. broadband deployment, in accordance with section 80,
3. future network deployment, in accordance with section 81,
4. civil works, in accordance with section 82, and
5. properties, in accordance with section 83.
(2) The functions of the Central Information Office of the Federation are performed by the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernisation. The Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernisation may transfer the functions of the Central Information Office of the Federation, in whole or in part, to authorities within its portfolio or to authorities subject to its technical supervision, or may delegate the performance of the functions to third parties by way of a grant of powers, insofar as this is legally permissible.
(3) The information may also be used for general planning and funding purposes and for other purposes determined by law.
(4) In geographic surveys necessary for the functions referred to in subsection (1), the Central Information Office of the Federation cooperates with the Federal Network Agency, insofar as the Federal Network Agency does not itself carry out the relevant function and this may be relevant to its functions.
