(1) The statutes may determine that interest is paid on credit balances. Where the statutes do not determine a fixed interest rate, they must fix a minimum interest rate. Interest is calculated by reference to the level of the credit balances at the close of the preceding business year. It must be paid out at the latest six months after the close of the business year for which it is granted.
(2) Where the balance sheet of the cooperative shows, for a business year, a net loss for the year or a loss carried forward that is not covered, wholly or in part, by the results reserves, a net income for the year and a profit carried forward, then, to the extent of the amount not covered, no interest may be paid for that business year.
