The carrier is to assume responsibility for the fault or neglect of its servants and that of the ship’s company to the same extent as if the fault or neglect in question were its own, provided that their servants and the ship’s company were acting within the scope of their employment. This likewise applies to any fault or neglect on the part of any other person of whose services the carrier avails themself in performing the carriage.
