Application of maritime law

If the contract of carriage calls for carriage of the goods, without transshipment, both on inland waters and by sea, then maritime law on the carriage of goods by sea applies to the contract if

1.  a bill of lading has been issued, or if

2.  the distance to be covered by sea is the longer.
