The carrier is to ensure that the ship is in seaworthy condition and properly furnished, equipped, manned, and sufficiently supplied (seaworthiness); the carrier also is to ensure that the holds, including the refrigerating and cooling chambers, as well as all other parts of the ship within which or on which goods are loaded, are fit for the reception, carriage, and preservation of the goods (cargoworthiness).
