Part 1 · Administrative Procedure  ›  Title 2 · Time Limits, Dates, Reinstatement › Section 26

Time limits and dates

(1) For the computation of time limits and for the determination of dates, sections 187 to 193 of the Civil Code apply correspondingly, insofar as nothing else is determined by subsections (2) to (5).
(2) The running of a time limit set by an authority begins with the day following the notification of the time limit, unless the person concerned is informed otherwise.
(3) Where the end of a time limit falls on a Sunday, a statutory public holiday or a Saturday, the time limit ends with the expiry of the next working day. This does not apply where the person concerned has been informed, with reference to this provision, of a particular day as the end of the time limit.
(4) Where an authority has to render benefits only for a particular period, that period ends with the expiry of its last day even where that day falls on a Sunday, a statutory public holiday or a Saturday.
(5) A date set by an authority must be observed even where it falls on a Sunday, a statutory public holiday or a Saturday.
(6) Where a time limit is determined in hours, Sundays, statutory public holidays or Saturdays are counted.
(7) Time limits set by an authority may be extended. Where such time limits have already expired, they may be extended retroactively, in particular where it would be inequitable to let the legal consequences that have arisen through the expiry of the time limit stand. The authority may combine the extension of the time limit with an ancillary provision under section 32.
