If an employment relationship continues during parental leave without payment in accordance with section 1a (4) of the Company Pensions Act (Betriebsrentengesetz), and a life insurance policy taken out by the employer for the benefit of the employee is converted into a fully paid-up insurance policy on account of the non-payment of insurance premiums due during parental leave, the employee may demand, within three months of the end of parental leave, that the insurance be continued under the terms and conditions agreed prior to the conversion.
