Insurer’s liability

(1) In the case of accident insurance, the insurer is liable following an accident involving the insured person, or an event contractually deemed equivalent to an accident.

(2) An accident is deemed to have occurred where the insured person involuntarily suffers a health impairment on account of a sudden event having an external impact on his or her body. Involuntariness is assumed until such time as the opposite is proven.
