Identification of economic operators, authorisation to issue statutory instruments

(1) The economic operator must, upon request, provide the market surveillance authority with information on the economic operators 1. from whom it has obtained a product, and 2. to whom it has supplied a product.
(2) The economic operator must ensure that it is able to provide the information under subsection (1) for at least five years after it has been supplied with the product or has supplied the product.
(3) The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs is authorised, by statutory instrument requiring the consent of the Bundesrat and in agreement with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, to extend the period referred to in subsection (2) for individual products, where this appears warranted having regard to the economic useful life of the product.
