(1) The functions of the supervisory body under Article 17 of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014, under this Act, and under the statutory ordinance under section 20 are performed by 1. the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway (Bundesnetzagentur), for the areas of a) the creation, verification and validation of electronic signatures, electronic seals or electronic time stamps, and services for the delivery of electronic registered mail, as well as certificates relating to those services under Article 3 number 16 letter a of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014, and b) the preservation of electronic signatures, seals or certificates relating to those services under Article 3 number 16 letter c of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014, and 2. the Federal Office for Information Security, for the area of the creation, verification and validation of certificates for website authentication under Article 3 number 16 letter b of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014.
(2) The assignment of functions to the Bundesnetzagentur does not affect the functions of the Federal Office for Information Security under the BSI Act and under other specialist statutes, in particular 1. the development of technical standards in national, European and international bodies in coordination with the Bundesnetzagentur, 2. the assessment of algorithms and associated parameters, and 3. the development of technical specifications and the assessment of technical standards for the use of trust services in digitalisation projects, in accordance with the relevant specialist statutes.
