Section 12

Separation and deletion of auxiliary characteristics

(1) Auxiliary characteristics must be deleted, unless subsection (2), section 10(2), section 13, or another statutory provision provide otherwise, as soon as the statistical offices have completed checking the survey and auxiliary characteristics for consistency and completeness. They must be separated from the survey characteristics at the earliest possible time and kept, or stored, separately.
(2) For periodic surveys for the purposes of federal statistics, the auxiliary characteristics necessary to determine the group of persons to be surveyed may be kept, or stored, separately, insofar as they are needed for subsequent surveys. They must be deleted once the period of recurring surveys has ended.
