(1) Providers and persons participating under section 3(2), first sentence, nos. 1 and 2 may, in connection with establishing or amending a contractual relationship with an end-user for the provision of telecommunications services, require production of an official identity document where this is necessary to verify the end-user's particulars. The duty under section 172 of the Telecommunications Act remains unaffected.
(2) To comply with a requirement to produce an official identity document, the end-user may use the electronic proof of identity under section 18 of the Act on Identity Cards and Electronic Identification, under section 12 of the eID Card Act, or under section 78(5) of the Residence Act.
(3) A copy may be made of the identity document. The copy must be destroyed without delay once the particulars of the end-user necessary for concluding the contract have been established. Data other than that necessary for concluding the contract may not be processed in doing so.
